Rise Beyond was developed to equip young people with a strong understanding of Rotary’s mission, values, and organizational structure, while strengthening essential leadership and communication skills. The initiative recognizes that sustainable impact within Rotary begins with knowledgeable and capable members who can lead with clarity, integrity, and competence. The program follows a structured monthly framework composed of four core components.
The Rotaract Club of Menen in Ethiopia officially launched Rise Beyond, a six-month Professional Development initiative designed to cultivate informed, confident, and service-driven young leaders.
Structured into two parts of three months each, the program that began in November aims to graduate more than 40 trainees, with the first phase beginning with 25 participants.
The first and second components focus on structured learning through the Rotary Learning Center. Trainees deepen their understanding of Rotary’s history, areas of focus, operational systems, and project implementation processes. This ensures participants are informed and confident ambassadors of Rotary principles.
The third component is trainee-selected development training. Each month, participants identify skills they wish to strengthen and engage in targeted sessions, fostering ownership of their growth and internal motivation. The fourth component centers on assessment and evaluation, where trainees collaborate on mini-projects simulating real Rotaract initiatives.
These exercises provide hands-on experience in teamwork, coordination, problem-solving, and accountability. Guided feedback and reflection help refine both technical knowledge and interpersonal leadership skills.
Beyond formal training, Rise Beyond incorporates interactive sessions for idea exchange, discussion, and peer connection. This supportive environment strengthens relationships, encourages dialogue, and builds a sense of community. By balancing structured learning with relational engagement, the program promotes both professional and personal growth.
Importantly, Rise Beyond is designed as a future induction criterion for new members, setting a standard of competence and commitment. By establishing a structured pathway for foundational learning and leadership preparation, the program ensures that trainees are ready to lead within the club and beyond.
The Rotaract Club of Menen Ethiopia hopes this framework can inspire clubs worldwide to adopt similar models, strengthening leadership development across the movement. By combining knowledge, skill development, practical application, and peer connection, the project demonstrates how structured leadership initiatives can create lasting, sustainable impact.
As the first half concludes, the Rise Beyond Project stands as a strategic investment in the future of Rotaract leadership. It is more than an internal initiative — it is a model for building a generation of leaders equipped to serve with clarity, integrity, and purpose, locally and globally.
