The Rotary Club of Nairobi North is set to take African-led peacebuilding conversations to the global stage after its proposed RCC Day Africa breakout session was officially accepted into the 2026 Rotary International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan.

Titled “Impactful Change Making Models Around the World,” the session will be delivered as an interactive workshop on Monday June 15, 2026, from 09:00–10:00, at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX 1 and TaiNEX 2).
The workshop is designed to educate and inspire Rotarians by showcasing proven changemaking models that integrate peacebuilding and non-violence, particularly in contexts affected by conflict. Participants will engage with compelling case studies drawn from real-world initiatives led by Rotarians and Rotary Peace Fellows working in fragile and conflict-affected regions. These examples will highlight how community-rooted, values-driven approaches can deliver sustainable peace outcomes while strengthening local institutions and social cohesion.

Beyond sharing success stories, the session will offer practical guidance on next steps for Rotary Clubs, Rotary Peace Fellowships and Peace Committees. Discussions will focus on how Rotary entities can mobilize both locally and globally, build meaningful partnerships, and intentionally include youth voices in peacebuilding and development projects.

The session will be led by Solomon Odero, Co-Founder and Director of Day Africa and a Rotary Peace Fellow, alongside Katherine Hughes Fraitekh and Andrew Stone of the Rotary Club of Portland, Oregon. Together, the facilitators, who are associated with RCC Day Africa, bring a blend of grassroots experience, international perspective, and Rotary leadership to the conversation.

The 2026 Rotary International Convention, running from 13–17 June 2026, will bring together more than 30,000 Rotary Rotarians from around the world. With primary events hosted at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center and the Taipei Dome, attendees can expect a dynamic program featuring networking, service-focused learning, and rich cultural exchange—making the Day Africa session a timely and impactful contribution to the global Rotary agenda.
